Excelsior
(very fine wood shavings) was long the preferred stuffing for its solid-packing
and heft. While some stubborn hand-sewers still use it, fire safety laws
be damned, most modern bears contain fire-safe polyester filler, sometimes
augmented with tiny plastic beads (made from recycled milk cartons) to add
that baby-like heft that collectors love. |
