It Ain't Over 'Til the Soprano Lady Sings

If you're a fan of Livia Soprano, or real-life now-dead actress Nancy Marchand, you'll be glad or horrified to hear that they're bringing her back to life electronically for her last appearance on the show in this season's opener on Sunday. She died during the summer hiatus, so they're using outtakes, old episodes and the miracle of electronics to edit her into scenes before killing her midway through the episode. http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/28/arts/28SOPR.html

Here's a better article about the mechanics of grafting the parts onto the screen. Warning: spoiler about what happens is inserted in article.

As a huge fan of the evil and manipulative Livia, I think it's somewhat fitting to bring her back to life for a final farewell, even if it is electronically. She needs to go out with a bang, not just disappear between seasons.
At least they didn't try to replace her with some other actress, like they did with Darrin on Bewitched, or when they replaced the youngest Partridge family boy (a brunette) with a blond kid. Like we wouldn't notice........
