  Futurama lives in the past
TV

Now that we've got DSL at home, somebody (no names will be mentioned to protect the guilty) has been (close your eyes kids and cops) downloading (you can open 'em again) old TV shows. Specifically, I'm od'ing on all the Futurama episodes I've missed.Besides the fact that this series proves that Matt Groening is THE leading edge producer of TV, what amazes (and amuses) me is the amazing number of pop-culture references per minute the writers manage to pack into the show.Anyway, all Whole Pop readers should check out:http://www.morefuturama.com/and don't forget to watch!

(Close your eyes again kiddies)

Aside: This whole download TV/videos/games/music thing is huge. Napster is just the tip of the iceberg, which is why the entertainment industry is fighting it so hard.

Matt Groening is *so* good that his absence on the Simpson's is painfully obvious. Have you been watching this season (and much of last season, too)?

Last week's was "okay," but it was written by Baby Boomer Al Jean (Mingo's childhood friend, actually). Most seem to be written by young upstarts who have few cultural references, knowledge of the characters, or a grasp of comedy writing.

They really should put the show out of its misery.

Thanks for the Futurama link. I used to love it when I watched a couple of years ago. Maybe it's time to check it out again.

Hey, I can't seem to get into any of the downloading servers (they're all in Germany, too, which seems odd). Am I missing something?
