Roadside America

So, I guess the malling of America hasn't completely taken over. Check out http://www.roadsidepeek.net/index.htmfor a nostalgic tour of the highways and biways of this strange country.
I especially enjoyed "Roadside Icons" (ladies, gotta love those "Roadside Men", despite their somewhat frightening props) and, under Architecture, the "Roadside Vernacular" section (drive through a donut hole to pick up your donuts, see the Kentucky Fried Chicken chicken, or buy your hot dogs from a giant hot dog)

That is a great site, and I've spent a lot of time there. All the great tourist traps!
A few other sites not to be missed:
http://www.findagrave.com
for the graves of famous and infamous people.
And a one-stop livecam website for two of my favorite kitschy tourist traps--Mount Rushmore and the Corn Palace:
http://www.sdpb.org/DakotaCast/webcam/index.htm
Click on the live Corn Palace photo and you'll get hotlink to its gift shop. A Corn Palace Mug is the perfect gift for that hard-to-please relative!
