Philadelphia put up a memorial marker celebrating the site of the first organized Girl Scout Cookie drive. Keebler, by the way, was the first baking company to manufacture Girl Scout Cookies. I guess Brownies and elves stick together, eh?http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2001/01/17/national0158EST0440.DTL&nl=fix

If you want the whole cookie story, including pictures of girl scout cookie boxes throughout the century, an "early recipe" for girl scout cookies and statistics on best-selling cookies (hint, think thin, think minty), check out:

Unfortunately, purchase of girl scout cookies is NOT tax deductible. Drat!

Does this site work even if your browser is set for "Accept No Cookies"?
