That's pretty goofy, Aron--they're offered in "African Heritage" with black features and "Caucasian Heritage" with northern European features...but not a (historically accurate) "Semitic Heritage" option? Strange indeed.

Well, now at least I know where to go when someone tells me to get a Job.

I did say "politically correct" not "historically correct". What I am really curious about is if they are anatomically correct. Of course Eve is WAY over dressed.

Okay, call me a troublemaker. But I was annoyed by the cloying idea that playing with the action figures would get kids reading the Bible...and that that would be a good thing. So I sent a letter to Andre Kalich, the president of the company. Here's a copy:

      Dear Mr. Kalich,

You say on your webpage that your toys are "designed to inspire your child to learn about the Bible." Well great, I thought. I bought a Moses one for my nephew for Christmas. He's ten and my sister just called me up to scream at me about it. It turns out that he's been learning the Bible a little too well, if you know what I mean. Yesterday, he was re-enacting the vengence on the Midianites from Numbers 31 with a bunch of his sisters' Barbies and his army action figures. My sister found little Harley talking through his Moses figure to his army men, reading from verse 15-17: "Have you allowed all the women to live? ... Now kill all the boys and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourself every girl who has never slept with a man." He had all the Barbies' clothes off and had the army men doing "virgin tests on them" he said.

What do you plan next--action dolls of Lot and his incestuous daughters?

I'll let you know if I get a response.

        Real classy, Ed.

        So...did you hear anything back?

          Thanks, Erin!

Inexplicably, I haven't heard anything back yet. Maybe they're all still on vacation?

The Bible is not nice. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to reread it. If you want a child to know your beliefs then talk to them, don't let them read what they want.
