EYES

The best eyes are glass, made specifically for this purpose. In the bad old days, they were attached to a long, sharp hatpin and just thumbtacked into the head; concerned parents would routinely remove these and sew on buttons. Nowadays, eyes are safely sewn in with extra-strong nylon "eye-floss," and the really good ones come in several life-like colors from Germany.
